The Triple Crown of American Hiking
The United States Ambassador to New Zealand (where else would there be such knowledge!) wrote this article about the so-called ‘Triple Crown’ of American hiking. Veteran long-distance hikers will be aware that this is the 2,180 mile Appalachian Trail, 2,663 mile Pacific Crest Trail, and 3,100 mile Continental Divide Trail. The Ambassador also reports that the United States–through an act of Congress–has 11 national scenic trails and 19 national historic trails.
