Thank you for this kind review. I’ve learned to be thick-skinned about book reviews, especially in the Amazon era. For while most of my book reviews
have been positive, you occasionally get the horrible review. That’s fair enough. Heck, the reader has a million options on Amazon alone to choose from,
so they can be forgiven for being demanding. Sometimes it even seems like the very best writers get the most terrible reviews. Just at look at Wild–From Lost
to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail, by Cheryl Strayed. Over ten percent of the reviews are one-star reviews. Yet the book has been a smashing success and
I enjoyed it thoroughly. Like Bill Bryson’s A Walk in the Woods, it had its own unique flavor. In both cases the author, at turns, entertained and informed.
That is all we can hope to do. I appreciate the above review placed just yesterday on Amazon, as the reviewer seems to have understood what angle I was
coming from, which will surely be different from other authors’ angles.
