The annual Appalachian Trail Celebration and Backpacking Clinic will be held March 5th and 6th, 2011, at Amicalola Falls State Park Lodge. Several notable authors will be on hand to make presentations and sign copies of their Appalachian Trail books. Among those will be:

1.  Jeff Alt, author of A Walk for Sunshine, and the most impressive physical specimen on the AT; 2.Winton Porter, author of Just Passin’ Thru, and the richest man on the AT; 3. Model T, author of Ghost Whisperers, and the most knowledgeable historian on the AT; 4. David Miller, author of AWOL on the Appalachian Trail, and the most technically savvy man on the AT. 5. Gene Espy, author of Trail of My Life, and the second thru-hiker ever.

Speaking Sunday morning will be Bill Walker, author of both Skywalker–Close Encounters on the Appalachian Trail, and Skywalker–Highs and Lows on the Pacific Crest Trail, and at 6’11”, the tallest person on both the AT or PCT.

Amicalola is a Cherokee word, meaning tumbling water. Come see the tumbling water, the backpacking clinic, and meet the authors. It is open to the public. Last year’s event was a smashing success, and this year is touted to top last year.
