It is the first of the month and Amazon Prime members have their monthly choice of what book to upload for free on Amazon. A new potential selection isTall Tales–The Great Talisman of Height, by Bill Walker. He is previously the author of the Skywalker hiking books series on the Appalachian Trail and Pacific Crest Trail, as well as Camino de Santiago and Annapurna Circuit in Nepal.

“Height may be the most basic prejudice in humankind,” the 7-foot tall Walker writes. A very underrated topic. “My height has been such a major factor in my life–much more so than my blackness,” wrote 7’2″ Wilt Chamberlain. The book explores such urban legends as the Napoleonic complex, as well as its opposite, the ostrich complex. Best of all are Walker’s colorful tales of being rejected by horrified members of the opposite sex, flunking the physical to enter the U.S. military, and being treated in foreign countries like an animal that has escaped from the zoo.
